Trip Planning
The Boundary Waters' thousands of lakes and rivers make for trip possibilities as limitless as the imagination of the camper who thinks them up.
Do you seek natural beauty?
Or wildlife?
Planning your Boundary Waters canoe trip can be an exciting experience in itself.

Is it great fishing you're looking for? Maybe it's solitude you're after? Do you prefer shorter or longer portages? Are you willing to travel greater distances in hopes of seeing a moose or a wolf?

The Boundary Waters' thousands of lakes and rivers make for trip possibilities as boundless as the imagination of the camper who thinks them up.

Sawbill's list of suggested routes, however, should give you some ideas about what direction your canoe trip could take.

Travel permits are required for every overnight trip in the BWCAW. It is a good idea to reserve a permit as one of the first steps in your trip planning process, since the permit will dictate your point and date of entry.
